Kansas has a huge variety of neighborhood playgrounds all with different requires depending on exactly where they are situated in the city. While the city is called the City of Fountains is it doesn't park office that is responsible for keeping the main boulevards, fountains beautiful, and playgrounds well manicured. The parks department does not have a significant budget and at times has already established to cut back and scale down improvements to area parks. Westside Park play ground, in the West Plaza neighborhood, is usually one of those parks. A major area of issue this mother or father is that the equipment is out dated; the wood chips have busted glass and trash in them, the dogs and neighborhood cat use it being a their personal litter box, the play machines are not handicap accessible and the most of the tools has damaged paint. Westside Park is one of those parks where money came up short. With the aid of West Plaza Neighborhood Affiliation board, community volunteers and grant money it would transform an outdated, unsafe, and much necessary makeover from the play surface into a handicap accessible and environmentally friendly secure playground in the park. Westside Park can be found on the west side in the city in mid-town. It is bordered by the state range on one area, residential house on the other 3 sides. It can be situated in nine amazing acres of land. Very low baseball diamonds that is forever in use for a neighborhood game or prepared leagues. But what gets the the majority of use is the playground area. From early morning to overdue evening youngsters and their parents can be seen applying this area of the recreation area. Since it is definitely the only huge green space in the region, it is used by dog owner as well. The overuse has considered its cost on this amazing park.
