The Peloponnesian War, that took place by (431-404 M. C. ), was struggled between the Athenians and the Spartans. The Local Wars, which took place from (499-448 M. C. ), were from the Persians attempts to conquer the Greek city-states. These battles affected the Greek position in the old world and caused the downfall of Athens.

The Peloponnesian War was very intense and lasted from (431-404 B. C. ). The primary reason for the beginning of the Peloponnesian War was Sparta's fear of Athens progress in power. The Peloponnesian War was fought between Athens and Sparta. Both of which were incredibly powerful Traditional city-states and fought with each other in the Local Wars. Athens grew more powerful after the Persian Wars, thus creating tension, which escalated in to roughly 30 years of warfare between Spartis and Athens.
